The Atmosphere of a Historic Setting

Our restaurant building was originally constructed in 1915 as a workshop for the 11th Sharpshooter Regiment. Today, the former gunsmith’s workshop and carpenter’s workshop have been transformed into unique dining spaces, welcoming guests of Wanha Makasiini Bistro for both everyday dining and special occasions.

With seating for nearly 100 guests, our restaurant offers spacious dining rooms and cozy private cabinets that are ideal for corporate events, meetings, celebrations, and memorable evenings with family and friends.

The Perfect Match: Wine and Food

A well-chosen wine enhances the dining experience from the first course to dessert. The key to successful pairing is finding a balance between the fundamental flavors of both the food and the wine—especially acidity and sweetness, but also saltiness and bitterness.

Fresh, crisp wines often pair beautifully with light starters, fish, and seafood, while fuller-bodied and more tannic wines complement richer flavors such as slow-cooked meats and grilled dishes. The level of spice in a dish also plays an important role. An aromatic or slightly sweeter wine can soften spicy flavors and bring out the best in the food.

When it comes to desserts, a good rule of thumb is that the wine should be at least as sweet as the dessert itself. This helps maintain balance and prevents the wine from tasting overly acidic or thin.
